Rules
- A standard 52 card deck is used.
-
Each player is dealt 13 cards.
The next card turned face up becomes the first prize card
and its suit determines trump for the entire game.
- The game is played in two rounds of 13 tricks.
-
One player leads a trick by playing a card.
The other player follows.
You must follow suit if you can.
If you cannot, you may play any card.
The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump is played,
in which case the highest trump wins.
- The winner of a trick leads the next trick.
-
Round 1 - Drafting
The winner of each trick takes the face up prize card.
The loser draws the next card from the stock.
A new prize card is then revealed.
-
Round 2 - Scoring
After the stock is empty, players play the remaining tricks
using the hands they have built.
-
The First deal setting decides who is the dealer in the first game.
The dealer alternates in subsequent games. The non-dealer leads the first trick.
-
At the end of the game, you score 1 point for every trick won above six.
Tips
-
In Round 1 you are not just trying to win tricks.
You are building a strong hand for Round 2.
-
Sometimes it is better to lose a trick if you think
the stock card will be better than the prize card.
-
When it is your turn your name will glow
and legal cards will rise slightly from your hand.
-
If you cannot win a trick you should play your worst legal card.
-
Keep track of trump and high cards that have already been played.
